Petronas Gas to supply liquid argon to Maser
KUALA LUMPUR Aug 25 - Petronas Gas Bhd (PGB), a listed subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), signed a long term Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Maser (M) Sdn Bhd on Monday for the supply of liquid argon from PGB's centralised utilities facility located in Kertih, Terengganu.
In a statement Wednesday, PGB said that it would supply liquid argon with 99.999 percent purity at an annual contract quantity of 3.8 million Newton metres (Nm3) amounting to a total volume of 19.2 million Nm3 over the five year period to Maser, a company involved in trading and distribution of engineering products in the oil and gas, petrochemical and other related industries.
The first delivery of liquid argon is expected to be in early September this year.
Liquid argon belongs to the family of rare inert gases. It is tasteless, colourless, odourless, non-corrosive, nonflammable and extremely cold.
It is mainly use in the production of high end stainless stel, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding and as an inert gas for the manufacturing of electronic products.
Liquid argon is generally exported to India and the Middle East.
At the SPA signing ceremony here, PGB was represented by its managing director and chief executive officer Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin and Maser by its managing director Datuk Mat Seddek Adam. =Bernama
